On June 14, the Ministry of Education held an online press conference to introduce the reform and development of postgraduate education since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

At the meeting, Hong Dayong, director of the Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education, said that the key disciplines of postgraduate education in China have been continuously strengthened. "In the construction, science, engineering, agriculture and medical disciplines accounted for 78.5%.

In addition, the discipline construction of philosophy and social sciences has also continued to strengthen, and a number of "unpopular secrets" with important cultural value, such as oracle bone inscriptions, have been inherited and carried forward.

In 2021, we will make extraordinary arrangements for talent training projects such as integrated circuits and public health, and take special measures to strengthen the construction of urgently needed disciplines such as party building, party history, archaeology, and intangible cultural heritage.

Research and compile a list of urgently needed disciplines and majors to guide the development, including dozens of urgently needed areas such as early Chinese civilization, international communication, quantum science and technology, and high-end equipment, which will be issued and implemented in the near future.
