A new move against a "legendary" wedding that sparked controversy in Egypt

A member of the House of Representatives addressed a parliamentary question to the Prime Minister and the Acting Minister of Health and Population, to clarify the fact that the former Health Ministry spokesman, Khaled Megahed, had contributed to 12 private hospitals in Egypt.

In his question, the representative indicated that he had previously submitted a request for briefing two days ago regarding the cost of the wedding of Khaled Mujahid, who holds a government position in the state’s administrative apparatus, which exceeded more than 10 million Egyptian pounds, which raised eyebrows and anger among the pioneers of social networking sites in light of The living conditions of citizens and the economic conditions that are not hidden from anyone. It also raised several question marks for many doctors in Egypt who graduated from the same batch that Khaled Megahed graduated from, a class of 2009 from Ain Shams University.

He said that he had received many messages over the past hours, from doctors and workers in the Ministry of Health and Population, and others who had a direct working relationship with Dr. Khaled Mujahid, during his gradation in various sites at the Ministry of Health until he reached the position of Assistant Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed. These messages revolve that A shareholder in the ownership and management of a number of private hospitals and pharmaceutical companies in Egypt, according to "Cairo 24".

He stressed that he is in dire need to find out the truth of this matter, and to discuss the possibility of his participation and ownership of shares in 4 pharmaceutical companies, as well as 12 private hospitals in Egypt, where this matter - if proven true - constitutes an explicit violation of the provisions of the Illicit Gain Law, and the Law of Conflict of Interest No. 106 of 2013, which prohibits anyone who occupies a leadership position in the country from profiting from his job duties.

He also called on the regulatory authorities to review Khaled Mujahid’s career progression since he assumed his duties as a doctor in the Qassas Health Unit in Ismailia Governorate, with a basic salary of 1275 pounds per month, and to examine his financial liability, and the extent to which his huge wealth fits with his sources of income, based on the council’s role towards the country and maintaining public money, and the fight against corruption.
