China News Service, Hohhot, June 13 (Reporter Li Aiping) Since the beginning of summer, strong winds have continued to occur in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

On the 13th, strong winds occurred in 10 league cities including Alxa League and Bayannaoer City.

The blue wind warning signal issued by the meteorological department shows that the average wind force in the northeast of Alxa League, Bayannaoer City, Wuhai City and other places can reach above level 6, or gust above level 7.

The reporter learned from the Meteorological Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region that at present, most of the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia have more windy days and less precipitation.

Since the beginning of this year, the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Observatory has issued 80 blue or yellow warnings for regional strong winds, and this data has a significant increase compared with previous years.

After entering summer, why are there strong winds in many places in Inner Mongolia?

Zhang Guilian, the chief research-level senior engineer of the Inner Mongolia Meteorological Observatory, gave an explanation.

Zhang Guilian introduced that the main reasons for the strong winds in Inner Mongolia in summer are: from spring to mid-June, there are many cold vortices in Mongolia, Lake Baikal in Russia and northeastern my country.

"Cold vortex is a meteorological term. As the name implies, it keeps rotating like a vortex, and stops and goes at the same time. It mainly brings strong wind, cooling and precipitation." Zhang Guilian said.

Zhang Guilian introduced that because the cold vortex weather this year is like a hurried passerby, it is short-lived in western and central western Inner Mongolia (Alxa League, Wuhai City, Bayannaoer City, Ordos City, Baotou City, Hohhot City, Ulanqab City) City and the west of Xilin Gol League) stopped, so there was a strong wind in the above-mentioned areas.

According to the statistics of the meteorological department, from the spring to the present, most of the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia have more days with strong winds, while the precipitation is very rare, the soil moisture is poor, and the drought is serious. There is blowing sand and even sandstorms.

"When the cold vortex moves eastward to the eastern part of Inner Mongolia (Hulunbuir City, Xing'an League, Chifeng City, Tongliao City) and the three northeastern provinces, it is like a long-distance traveler, tired and resting," Zhang Guilian said vividly.

In Zhang Guilian's view, the emergence of the cold vortex has also caused strong convective weather to occur in eastern Inner Mongolia, northeastern regions and even northern China recently.
