The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition continues to celebrate features of the authentic heritage, by launching a new version of the Arabian Saluki beauty competition, in the 19th session of "Abu Dhabi 2022" from September 26 to October 2, organized by the Emirates Falconers Club.

The exhibition pointed out that the Saluki is an important part of the hunting heritage in the region, as the Arabs have known it since ancient times, and they raised and took care of it, and its breed has been known for more than 7000 years. A symbol of desert and hunting traditions.

The competition is for the Arabian Saluki dog, provided that the owners of the Saluki are obligated to ensure that the participating dog is healthy and has a certificate of vaccination, and that it carries an electronic chip.

The competition is organized by the Arabian Saluki Center in Abu Dhabi, which is the first of its kind in the Arab Gulf region and the Middle East. Propagating them, cultivating identification cards, as well as registering births, issuing passports and parentage certificates, and making travel and travel arrangements in accordance with the approved laws.

Accurate evaluation and judging criteria include specifications of the breed from which the participating dog descends, behavior (such as walking and running), general appearance, structure and shape, in addition to hunting and chasing skills, general impression and psychological traits.

The Saluki is classified into two main types: the long-haired Arish (Al-Hadba) and the smooth (Al-Hoss) with light hair. The original hunting dog is home to the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, Iraq, Syria and Jordan. It has many breeds, the most important of which are in the region and in the Arabian Saluki Center in Abu Dhabi (Shadid, Theban, Tarrah and Qannas). ) from the Al-Hoss category, and “Lhaq, Dbyan and Khataf” from the Al-Arish category.

In the previous sessions, the competition had a remarkable turnout, as it attracted fans and lovers of Saluki from the UAE and the Arab Gulf countries, and attracted tens of thousands of visitors and tourists of different age groups, due to its strength, intelligence, loyalty and high skills.
