The Mohammed bin Rashid Library, the new cultural beacon in Dubai and the UAE, is preparing to open its doors to the public tomorrow, for the first time, after the inauguration of the new knowledge edifice, the day before yesterday, by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The library contributes to the consolidation of the UAE’s position as an incubator of culture and creativity in the region, as it provides a stimulating environment with creative horizons that advances the cultural and creative product in the country and accommodates all segments of society, including youth, children, government and private institutions, writers, researchers, thinkers and artists, and also receives readers and literary and intellectual figures from all over the region. and the world.

The “automated warehouse” on the first floor is one of the largest sections in the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, and includes more than 1.1 million addresses, and its smart work system is the first of its kind in the region, as it works with artificial intelligence through a smart work system that works by requesting the address electronically, and then send a command to the robots to automatically search for the “book”, among more than a million addresses;

And bringing it to any of the nine libraries spread over seven floors, and the book moves through an electronic path (walking) to reach the reader's hand, in addition to an electronic retrieval system for books.

The Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Mazrouei, said that the library provides access to a wide range of electronic books and other digital media, and access to millions of books, information sources and content from all over the world, adding, “For the first time in the Gulf region and the Middle East. We rely on an integrated system of artificial intelligence and minimization of the human element, starting from choosing the title through the reading and borrowing processes, leading to the retrieval and sterilization of books so that they are ready again.”

Such as languages, history, geography, philosophy, health, sports, self-development and literature, including novels and short stories available in both Arabic and English.

In addition to the nine libraries, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library - which overlooks the Dubai Creek on an area covering more than half a million square feet between the land area and the area of ​​the seven-storey building, at a total cost of about one billion dirhams - includes a seating area to browse books, within a comfortable environment. And stimulating reading, in addition to study rooms, all of which are free for students who are amateurs and lovers of reading, and they can book through the website or the application and priority is for members affiliated with the library, in addition to the fact that the library provides dialogue sessions and discussion meetings between entrepreneurs from time to time, to investigate the reality of the business sector in region, and to explore new and diversified investment horizons.

The largest project to preserve rarities

The Mohammed bin Rashid Library aims to promote and popularize the culture of reading, support creative, cognitive and artistic activity at the individual and societal levels, and provide a paper and digital knowledge platform for creative minds in the region and the world.

The “Book Digitization” laboratory is the largest project to preserve rare books by documenting and archiving them electronically and uploading them to the library’s website for the benefit of various segments of society, especially school and university students, and even in the entire Arab world. Rare materials can be made available to researchers or those wishing to view them under Supervision of the library staff.
