The most prominent of these is the Digital Archives of the Arabian Gulf, which was established by the National Archives and Library in cooperation with the British Archives. This site displays to its visitors on the Internet hundreds of thousands of historical documents related to the UAE and the Gulf region.

The National Archives and Library also established the Preservation and Restoration Center, as a result of visiting the archives of government agencies, which were full of documents that are prone to damage and that need preservation in scientific and professional ways and for restoration in order to live a longer life. The Conservation and Restoration Center has taken a strong start in the laboratory for the restoration of archival materials, the digitization laboratory (photographing), and warehouses for preserving archival materials, which made it qualified to preserve thousands of kilometers of historical documents.

The National Archives and the Library paid great attention to the qualification and development of national cadres in the field of document management and archival sciences. It launched, in cooperation with Sorbonne University - Abu Dhabi, the professional certificate in document management and archival sciences, followed by a bachelor’s degree in document management and archival science, and final preparations are underway to launch a specialized master’s in records management. The strategic plan, which the Archives Department and the National Library are preparing, aims to consolidate the library’s position as a national reference and a cultural and information center that preserves the heritage of the UAE, and highlights its scientific and civilizational development, similar to the major global libraries that incubate human heritage.
