The weather was far too good this weekend to stay glued to your computer: here are five pieces of information to update you before tackling the week again.

1. Low Turnout

Participation in the first round of the legislative elections reached 39.42% on Sunday at 5 p.m.

A figure 1.3 points lower than that of 2017 at the same time.

It is also much lower than that of the legislative elections of 2012 (48.31%), as well as that of the first round of the presidential election of 2022 (65%).

Lot is the department that had voted the most at 5 p.m. Sunday (52.4%), ahead of Pyrénées-Atlantiques (50.4), Haute-Vienne (48.8), Dordogne (48.6) and Cantal (48.4).

2. Fires in the South

In Spécéradès, near Grasse, 12 hectares of forest have burned and the firefighters are still on deck this Sunday to fight against possible resumption of the fire.

On Saturday, two fires destroyed about ten hectares in the Gard.

Faced with the very dry climate of early June, firefighters are calling for the greatest vigilance.

Especially since it will be very hot this week, with temperatures of 35 to 38°C in the southern half of the country.

It is even possible that the heat wave threshold will be reached or even exceeded in certain departments, according to Météo-France.

3. Pressure against the blockade of Ukrainian ports

Cereals begin to rot in Odessa, where they are stored until they can leave Ukraine.

The blockade of Black Sea ports could lead to a global food crisis, as Ukraine was one of the biggest grain exporters in the world before the start of the war.

On Saturday, President Zelensky on Saturday appealed for international pressure to get Russia to end the blockade.

France said it was ready to help to lift the blockage.

4. The quintuple for Toyota at Le Mans

No big surprise, again this year, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Toyota n° 8 of the Hartley-Buemi-Hirakawa trio won the 90th edition of the race this Sunday ahead of the Toyota n° 7, victorious last year.

It signs a fifth consecutive victory on the legendary Sarthe circuit for the Japanese manufacturer.

It is also the fourth victory at Le Mans for Buemi, 33, who has also driven in F1 and who has been one of the main drivers, since its creation, of the Formula Electric championship (champion in 2016).

5. Toulouse in half

The French rugby championship will soon know its outcome.

Two places remained vacant for the semi-finals which will be played in Nice at the end of the week.

Toulouse won one by winning brilliantly against La Rochelle (33-28) on Saturday evening.

The European champions ran out of fuel against the individualities of the Red and Black, led by a sparkling Dupont.

Stade Toulousain will meet its neighbor Castres in the semi-finals.
