The Italian authorities continue to search for a missing helicopter on the border between the regions of Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna.

The search in the Apennine Mountains was also unsuccessful on the second night and will be continued, the fire brigade said on Saturday.

The police, fire brigade and mountain rescue forces used drones and helicopters from the air and helpers on the ground to search for the helicopter that disappeared from the radar on Thursday and was on its way to Treviso in Veneto.

According to media reports, there were a total of seven people on board – the Italian pilot, four Turkish and two Lebanese citizens.

The businessmen were in Italy on business.

An Italian company that produces hygiene items such as kitchen paper towels chartered the shuttle flights between Lucca and Treviso.

The search area was initially roughly in the area of the municipality of Pievepelago, about 70 kilometers south-west of Modena.

Mountain range Apennines difficult to access

The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that its embassy in Rome and the consulate general in Milan were in contact with the Italian authorities.

The two companies from Turkey and Lebanon also stated that they were looking for their employees.

It was initially unclear why the helicopter disappeared from the radar.

According to the authorities, the search is difficult because the area in the Apennine mountain range is difficult to access and densely forested, which also showed a video from a fire brigade helicopter.
