“We realized that the only way to allow our most demanding fans to get more while keeping our existing features free is to make those higher limits payable,” he wrote.

Durov recalled that in this case, all existing functions will remain free.

In turn, Telegram Premium users will have additional features. 

The founder of the messenger emphasized that Telegram should be funded primarily by users, not advertisers.

“Thus, our users will always remain our top priority,” Durov concluded.

Earlier, Moscow hosted the ceremony of presenting the first National Internet Content Award, established by the Internet Development Institute (IRI) with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
