Flight over a nest of Northerners.

Between June 13 and July 7, a strange plane will fly over the five departments of Hauts-de-France at low altitude.

Nothing serious, it is simply a scientific operation aimed at measuring the characteristics of the air.

In three weeks, Safire's ATR 42 twin turboprop propeller, a research infrastructure shared by Météo-France, CNRS and Cnes, will operate between three and four outings lasting several hours at an average altitude of 300 m.

A relatively low altitude that could arouse curiosity.

"Atmospheric Chemistry of the Suburban Forest"

This process is nevertheless necessary to carry out the surveys which should make it possible to "better understand the physico-chemical processes of the atmosphere", explains the prefecture of the North.

This campaign is part of the Across study, led by American researcher Christopher Cantrell, on the “atmospheric chemistry of the suburban forest”.

It concerns a radius of 200km around Paris.
