They are neighbors just like us.

On the 9th, SBS 'The Story of the Day Biting the Tail' (hereinafter 'Kkokomu'), lit up that day 43 years ago with the subtitle 'Operation to Eliminate Bullies in 1980'.

In the summer of 1980 in Seoul, 18-year-old Seung-ho, 24-year-old Lee Su, and 23-year-old Il-young were taken to somewhere for various reasons.

It was because he had an argument with someone, spit in a crowd, or had a tattoo on his arm.

They were brought to a military base surrounded by double or triple barbed wire in the mountains.

Instructors in red hats baptized with clubs as soon as they arrived.

And there was even the sound of blank bullets from somewhere.

Along with the story that if you run away, you will be killed.

It was Samcheong Educational University where they were brought from the elderly to see their grandchildren, to young children, and to women.

Those considered bullies for absurd reasons received four weeks of indoctrination training here.

In particular, 23-year-old Il-young had to go through two times that she had never experienced before at Seongam Academy in her teens and Samcheong Education College in her 20s.

When he was in the 6th grade of elementary school, where he lived with his family, Il-yeong was taken to Seongam Academy, a school for rehabilitating vagrant children because of poor clothes on the way to a relative's house.

Seongam Academy used to be called Samcheong Educational University for boys because it beat children day and night and buried the dead children in the dark.

Il-young, who had spent three years there, one day saw a picture frame on the wall and froze.

Don't be sad or angry, even if life deceives you.

If you endure the days of sorrow and endure, the days of joy will come soon. The present is always sad. The heart

lives

in the future. Everything is a moment.

And I miss the past.

The poem became the strength that Il-young endured.

He inscribed the words Life with a briquette on his arm to engraved a poem called Life that would give him hope and strength in a hellish place.

Whenever it was difficult, he saw it and persevered, found hope himself, escaped Seongam Academy, and returned to his family.

However, Il-young returned to Samcheong Education University after only five years.

The reason he was brought in was because of the tattoo that said life that had made him endure.

Because of that, I endured hell, but because of it, I was dragged to hell again.

At that time, Samcheong Education Center accommodated a whopping 40,000 people.

Of these, 40% were non-transactional.

They had to endure harsh training every day, from guerrilla training to neck bar gymnastics, and they had to be treated like subhumans.

At mealtime, they were allowed to eat within 10 seconds after receiving the blessing, but the amount given to them was extremely small.

This was to ensure that they obeyed their words and did not rebel.

And the rebels even starved, but if they ejaculated from hunger, they were taken to the front of Jjamtong.

Jjamtong is a bin of leftovers left by the instructors, and it was full of maggots.

However, the reality was that trainees had no choice but to endure and eat in the face of hunger.

There were also deaths due to various reasons as they were treated unhumanly, and only 54 people were officially confirmed.

And after returning from there, most of them were unable to return to their daily lives due to after-effects or the stigma that they graduated from Samcheong Education University.

Lee Soo, who was taken to Samcheong Education University for spitting while standing in line at a baseball field, was eventually sent to a nursing home with severe aftereffects.

In addition, 18-year-old Seung-ho was expelled from school and wandered because of the gaze of the people around him. His mother, who saw this, was tormented by her guilt for not being able to protect her child. She eventually took her own life.

It was difficult for Il-young to even leave Samcheong Education College.

He could not come out of Samcheong Education University and had to work for six months.

Then he escaped again, but was caught and brought to a military trial.

But Il-young thought it was a good thing.

Because he was not guilty.

However, as a result of the trial, he was sentenced to one year in prison and was forced to serve a sentence.

His faith and hope had been shattered like that.

The first thing he did after he was released was to remove his life tattoo.

He rubbed his flesh to pieces with coarse salt to erase his writing and sprinkled detergent powder over it.

After that, Mr. Il-young, who had a hard time finding a job at the factory.

However, the police occasionally came.

The police had computerized the Samcheong Education University information and used it for nearly 10 years in the investigation.

The terrible things of Samcheong Educational University were all ordered by Chun Doo-hwan.

After 12.12 and 5.18, he dreamed of becoming a president, and he needed a cause, and with that cause, he called for the realization of a just society.

Samcheong Education College was founded to eradicate rogues across the country, and Chun Doo-hwan won the public’s attention because of the truth hidden behind lies and directing.

After Chun Doo-hwan, who became president, resigned as time passed, the 5th Republic hearing was held.

Here, Doo-Hwan Chun said in relation to Samcheong Education University, "To promote stability of the people's livelihood by correcting chronic and habitual crimes through special education as a preventive measure. He did not apologize."

397 deaths due to aftereffects and 2,768 injuries due to mental disorders.

This is the official number of victims of Samcheong Educational University.

18-year-old Seung-ho still had to take sleeping pills to fall asleep, and 24-year-old Lee Soo, who liked baseball, did not remember his older brother, but clearly remembered that he did not spit at the baseball field.

Il-young, who wanted to keep the work of Samcheong Educational University a secret until the very end.

He was encouraged by his wife's words, "You are not a sinner," and so requested his retrial.

And he was acquitted of a sentence of one year in prison after more than 40 years.

Those who had the courage to stand in front of the camera on that day said that they went out to solve the misunderstandings of the world.

And they asked us not to forget that they were ordinary neighbors just like us.

Lastly, the broadcast made us reflect on whether we all didn't brand them without knowing it, and whether we didn't take their stories lightly.

In addition, the Committee for Reconciliation of History for Truth and Reconciliation is accepting damages related to Samcheong Educational University, so I drew attention by asking for more people to come forward with courage so that new flesh can sprout before it gets worse.
