In his interview with "Beyond the News" program (08/6/2022), he said that the Russian goals were not achieved because of the Ukrainian resistance.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu raised a state of optimism in statements he made after a meeting in Ankara with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in which he described the atmosphere of negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian sides as more positive than it was weeks ago.

And saw the Turkish Minister of Diplomacy in his statements that there is a ground may allow the resumption of negotiations.

While Lavrov praised Turkish efforts to end the crisis, Kyiv reiterated its rejection of any negotiation with Moscow.

On the other hand, Russian political analyst Elena Suponina saw that the Turkish statements go beyond the limits of diplomatic courtesy, stressing that Russia relies heavily on Turkish mediation, especially since Ankara is also concerned about the US policy that relies on economic sanctions against countries.

Suponina ruled out the possibility of a close meeting between Ukrainian Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian Vladimir Putin, due to the lack of common ground for this meeting, in light of the persistence of mistrust and the unwillingness of the Ukrainian party to conduct serious negotiations, stressing the need for documents proving Ukrainian concessions, and she also considered that mediation Turkey may only succeed in the humanitarian aspect of the war.

Washington's position

As for Washington's position, Professor of Political Science and International Relations Khalil al-Anani said that there is an American determination to continue the war indefinitely, through continued American support for Ukraine with all kinds of weapons to confront Russia.

He explained that the problem with the US position is its lack of a clear vision, because it did not specify whether it wanted to stop the invasion and end the war or exhaust the Russian president and bring him down from power, pointing out that there is a disagreement within the US about the prospect of the war in Ukraine and its high economic cost.
