Banning non-Saudi celebrities from advertising in social media and marketing events

Today, Tuesday, the General Authority for Audio-Visual Media in Saudi Arabia issued a circular banning non-Saudis who violate the work system and the rules for dealing with expatriates and who do not have legal licenses that authorize them to practice advertising on social media platforms.

This comes from the tasks entrusted to it in the audio-visual media system, to control advertising violations, and where it monitored the violation of a number of non-Saudi advertisers, "residents and visitors" on social media platforms. commercial registries or statutory licenses and they are not operating under any commercial entity or foreign investment licence.

The authority clarified that by working and coordinating jointly with the Ministry of Commerce, it will be circulated to commercial establishments not to deal or advertise with non-Saudi advertisers “residents or visitors” or to advertise with them or invite them to marketing events for products, services and goods, and that the contract for advertising for commercial establishments is only with those who work under A commercial entity and has a license and legal documents authorizing it to engage in commercial advertising on social media platforms.

This comes within the framework of regulating advertising work in the Kingdom in accordance with the audio-visual media regulations, the e-commerce system and the relevant laws and regulations, including the work system issued by Royal Decree No. (M/51) dated 08/23/1426 AH, which states Article (33) Including that “a non-Saudi may not engage in work and may not be allowed to engage in it except after obtaining a license,” and the rules for dealing with expatriates who violate regulations issued by Royal Decree No. (M/24) dated 12/5/1434 AH, which prohibits the worker From working for his own account, and the system of combating cover-up issued by Royal Decree No. (40) dated 1/1/1442 AH, which considers a non-Saudi to practice an economic activity for his own account in the Kingdom and is not licensed to practice it as a “crime” whose perpetrators are punishable by penalties of up to five years imprisonment and a fine Up to five million riyals.

The General Authority for Audio-Visual Media and the Ministry of Commerce stress the obligation to adhere to the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom.

And she called for reporting any notes or media violations via the media platform or the unified number of the authority (920004242), and commercial violations through the unified call center of the Ministry of Commerce at the number (1900).
