Cruel nature.

Saturday, in Sarralbe, Moselle, three baby storks were attacked by an adult stork while they were in their nest, all filmed and broadcast live by a webcam which documents the life of the brood.

Difficult images that have shocked hundreds of Internet users.

The attack occurred on Saturday at 5:30 a.m., according to images visible on Youtube where we see a stork landing on the edge of the nest where three storks are without their parents.

For several minutes, the foreign stork pecks at two youngsters, the third conveniently playing dead.

She will end up killing one, before flying away.

One of the three cubs did not survive

In poor condition, the two survivors were rescued by firefighters, according to France Bleu Lorraine Nord, then treated by the Sarralbe veterinary clinic.

"We took care of the two surviving storks after the attack of a foreign stork" and they "will be returned to the nest after some care", indicated the establishment on its Facebook page.

The two youngsters were able to return to their nest late Sunday afternoon, according to the Facebook page “Webcam-Sarralbe Télé Cigogne”, which regularly documents the life of the brood and posts a photo of the “survivors […] returning in the nest".

According to France Bleu Lorraine Nord, the latter had been attacked shortly before by another pair of storks who had probably lost their brood and forced the parents to flee, leaving the three young people defenseless.

A very popular webcam in France and Europe

As Sarralbe's webcam was very popular among stork lovers, many noticed the attack, leaving many shocked comments on social media, some in Italian or English.

"Let's forget that horror!"

(“Forget this horror!”), writes one of them on the “Webcam-Sarralbe Télé Cigogne” page.

Another said she was reassured "that the 2 little ones (are) with their parents".

The webcam, whose images can be seen at Sarralbe.fr, was installed in 2017, then replaced in 2021 by a new “sound camera”, according to the town hall website.

Disabled after the attack, it still did not work early Sunday evening.
