Algerian police announced that the bodies of two young men were found in "a part of a plane" at Algiers International Airport on Saturday.

The police said in a statement that two male bodies, aged between 20 and 23, were discovered in one of the parts of an Air Algerie plane that was parked on the grounds of Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers.

The police indicated that an investigation was launched into the incident, without revealing the exact location on the plane where the two bodies were found, nor the destination of the flight.

According to local media, the two bodies belonged to two Algerian youths who were trying to reach Europe illegally.

Last March, a 16-year-old boy managed to board an Air Algerie plane at Constantine Airport (east) bound for France, according to the local press.

He arrived in France safely after being hidden in the baggage hold.
