It was another near-perfect evening for the Senegal team at Diamniadio's Stade Abdoulaye Wade.

This June 4, 2022, his supporters still got their money's worth.

In front of an enchanted audience, the reigning African champions indeed made an ideal start to the match against the Beninese.

Sadio Mané opened the scoring strongly from the penalty spot, following a handball by defender David Kiki in his penalty area (1-0, 12th).

In the 22nd minute, Mané took it twice to deceive the opposing goalkeeper Saturnin Allagbé (2-0).

In the 25th minute, the crossbar returns its recovery from the thigh.

The 3-0 was not far away...

Mistreated, the Squirrels can however blow around half an hour of play. Because a lighting problem leads to a short interruption of the game.

Their center forward Steve Mounié then forces the opposing goalkeeper Édouard Mendy to intervene (31st).

After the break, Mounié is also threatening with a curled shot that shaves the Senegalese frame (47th).

An XXL Sadio Mané

But, in the 50th minute, the match changed again: midfielder Sessi d'Almeida was sent off for a gross foul in the position of last defender on Mané.

Reduced to ten against eleven, the Beninese cracked again on the hour mark. They conceded a second penalty for a foul on Ismaïla Sarr.

Sadio Mané offers himself a hat-trick: 3-0, 60th.

With this 32nd achievement, the star striker of the Lions becomes the best scorer in the history of the Senegal team, ahead of Henri Camara (31 goals).

Aliou Cissé's proteges then calmly manage their efforts.

Too quietly, moreover, since in the 88th minute, Junior Olaïtan, launched in depth, took the opportunity to reduce the score with a cross shot (3-1).

In three days, the Senegalese will host the Amavaubi of Rwanda to try to take the lead in the Group L standings. These qualifications for
