Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and Shakira separated

Barcelona's Spanish football club, Gerard Pique, and Colombian star Shakira announced their separation on Saturday, after a relationship for more than a decade that produced two children.

"We regret to confirm our separation. We ask that privacy be respected for the good of our children who are our top priority," the couple said in a joint statement.
