The government has officially decided to lift some evacuation orders on the 12th of this month for difficult-to-return areas in Katsurao Village, Fukushima Prefecture, which are basically off limits after the nuclear accident.

This is the first time that residents will be able to return in difficult-to-return areas.

On the 3rd, the government held a joint meeting of the Nuclear Emergency Response Headquarters and the Reconstruction Promotion Council at the Prime Minister's Office, attended by Prime Minister Kishida and ministers.

Then, on the 12th of this month, the evacuation order was partially lifted for the difficult-to-return area in Katsurao Village, Fukushima Prefecture, where evacuation orders were issued due to the impact of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company. I officially decided to do it.

This is the first time that residents will be able to return in difficult-to-return areas.

The area where the evacuation order is lifted this time is about 6% of the total difficult-to-return area in Katsurao Village, and the government has certified it as a "specified reconstruction and regeneration base area" where residents can live and decontaminated.

Prime Minister Kishida said, "While many people are still forced to live in evacuation destinations, the cancellation of evacuation orders in the remaining difficult-to-return areas is important for the realization of full-scale reconstruction and revitalization of Fukushima. This is an issue. We will continue to proceed with the procedures for canceling the evacuation orders for the "specified reconstruction and regeneration base areas" such as Okuma Town and Futaba Town, and further accelerate the reconstruction of Fukushima. "

In addition, we will do our utmost to decontaminate and improve infrastructure so that evacuation orders can be lifted even in "base areas" other than Katsurao Village, and all those who intend to return to other areas can return. I instructed them to carefully confirm their intentions.
