Kicking off the festivities, around 1,500 servicemen along with 400 musicians and 250 horses will parade through central London, between Buckingham Palace and Horse Guards Parade Square, for this Salute to the Colors traditionally marking the official anniversary of the sovereign, according to the Ministry of Defence.

This parade had been canceled two years in a row due to the pandemic.

military overview

Opening an extended weekend of parades, popular festivals and concerts, this military parade will be inspected by Charles on horseback.

It will end with an overflight of the air troops.

The monarch is to appear twice briefly on one of the most famous balconies in the world, where the British royal family has marked major events since the 19th century.

At his side, the family will be limited to members who have official functions and their children, a much-awaited moment.

Because the health of Elizabeth II worries: since a night in the hospital in October, she has canceled almost all her official appearances, replaced by Charles.

Frail, she finds it difficult to walk and leans on a cane.

However, she has made several surprise appearances recently, smiling and relaxed, notably at the famous horticultural exhibition at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, in an electric cart.

A few absent

Prince Harry and Meghan will attend the parade from another building for their first return to the UK together since their big break in California in 2020. Also missing will be Prince Andrew, who paid millions of dollars to end to a sexual assault complaint.
