Noyon (Oise) will be better protected against floods from the Verse.

The departmental committee for the environment and health and technological risks (CODERST) has given its agreement for adjustments in this direction, reports

Le Courrier Picard

.

The validated project consists of creating two water retention basins in Berlancourt and Beaugies-sous-Bois (Oise).

18 months of work

They will make it possible to compensate for the acceleration in the flow of the river observed in Guiscard (Oise) after its reopening.

The basins will be built simultaneously.

The 18-month works will begin next December or early 2023. They will replace the concrete mini-dike installed in the bed of the Verse three years ago.

For some, the project is doomed to failure.

Critics believe that the basins of 233,000 and 66,150 m3 will be insufficient to protect the city from floods.

The idea of building a larger basin of 500,000 m3 had to be abandoned.

The experts ensure that the two structures at a total cost of 14 million euros will play their role effectively.
