Takeyoshi Tanuma, who continued to take pictures on the theme of children around the world as a news photographer and was the first photographer to receive the Order of Culture, died at his home in Tokyo on the 1st.

He was 93 years old.

Takeyoshi Tanuma was born in Tokyo and studied photography under Ihei Kimura, a photographer who was active before and after the war, and then became a freelance photographer.



He continues to take pictures on the theme of children around the world and has visited more than 100 countries and regions so far.



He also accompanied Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Children's Fund, to keep track of the local children.



In addition, he was the first photographer to receive the Order of Culture in 2019, focusing on training younger generations, such as serving as the chairman of the Japan Professional Photographers Society.



According to his family, Mr. Tanuma died at his home in Tokyo on the 1st.

He was 93 years old.
