The Sapporo District Court operates a nuclear power plant against Hokkaido Electric Power Company in a trial in which more than 1,200 people, including local residents, complained that the safety against earthquakes and tsunamis was insufficient for the Hokkaido Electric Power Company and Tomari Nuclear Power Plant in Tomari Village, Hokkaido. I handed down a judgment ordering not to do so.

On the other hand, the plaintiffs did not approve the decommissioning of nuclear power plants and the removal of spent nuclear fuel.

The Tomari Nuclear Power Plant has been in a state of being shut down for 10 years since Unit 3 stopped power generation for regular inspections in May 2012.
