Liquor "New National Standard" will be implemented tomorrow

The familiar "Bai Niu Er" can't be called "Baijiu" in the future?

On June 1, the "New National Standard" of liquor was officially implemented. The "New National Standard" made an accurate definition of liquor, flavored liquor, etc., and clearly expressed the characteristics of the category.

Some liquors on the market will no longer be marked as "baijiu" after the implementation of the "new national standard".

The "New National Standard" of Liquor is Coming

A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned that two national standards, "Liquor Industry Terminology" and "Beverage Alcohol Terminology and Classification", will be implemented from June 1, 2022.

In the newly revised national standard of "Liquor Industry Terminology" and "Beverage Liquor Terminology and Classification", the definition of "liquor" has been updated: grains are used as the main raw materials, Daqu, Xiaoqu, bran koji, enzymes and yeast, etc. It is a saccharified starter, distilled liquor made from cooking, saccharification, fermentation, distillation, aging and blending.

Industry insiders said that the key point of this is to make it clear that liquor must use "grain" as the main raw material.

At the same time, the definition of "grain" is also explained, which refers to the raw and finished grains of grains and beans. Grains include rice, wheat, corn, sorghum, barley, barley, etc.

In addition to the main raw material must be grain, the "new national standard" also requires that even if some edible alcohol needs to be added in the production process, alcohol brewed from grain must be used.

In the past, some enterprises used the wine brewed from grain and grain as the base wine, but used edible alcohol produced from potatoes for blending, thereby reducing the cost.

According to the "new national standard", the wine produced in this way will no longer be regarded as baijiu.

Additives are a major threshold for "white wine"

Previously, in order to ensure the aroma and taste of liquor, companies could modify it by adding food additives.

The "New National Standard" makes it clear that food additives shall not be used in liquor.

At the same time, all flavored liquors with food additives are classified as prepared liquors, which are clearly distinguished from the liquor categories.

This will also be reflected on the label of baijiu.

Liquor produced and marketed after the implementation of the "new national standard", as long as the bottle or packaging is only marked with the word "baijiu", it is a grain-brewed, non-additive liquor.

According to the new standard, if the ingredient list is clearly marked with "edible spices", it will be classified as "flavor liquor" and shall no longer be called liquor.

"The new national standard will have an impact on low-grade wines by liquid fermentation." The Minsheng Securities Research Report directly pointed out that after the implementation of the "new national standard", Shunxin Agriculture's products Niulanshan Erguotou, Luzhou Laojiao Chenjiao Liquor, Jiannanchun Mianzhu Daqu, The "flavor liquor" products with edible alcohol and food spices added to the main raw materials, such as the "Prosperous Da Tao" of Confucius House Wine, Jingzhi Roasted Pot of Jingzhi Wine Industry, and "Xiangzhi" Liquor of Lao Village Chief Wine, will no longer be used. Belongs to the scope of liquor.

Wine companies "upgrade" products to respond to "new national standards"

In fact, the "new national standard" was released last year, and various liquor companies have already taken action.

A reporter from Beiqing Daily learned that after the issuance of the "new national standard", Luzhou Laojiao will stop the production of liquor that does not meet the "new national standard", and will launch a new product, black cover Erqu.

Red Star has also upgraded its products, such as Red Star 56 degrees, the new packaging has added the logo of "pure grain solid state fermentation", and the word "pure grain" is highlighted on the trademark.

The new version of the raw material table clearly marked "water", "sorghum", "corn", "barley" and other raw materials that meet the requirements of the "new national standard".

Shunxin Agriculture, which takes "Niulanshan" as its main liquor product, sells 42-degree 500ml Niulanshan aged brewing (hereinafter referred to as "Bai Niu Er") at a price of about 15 yuan. The raw materials are water, sorghum, and liquid method liquor. , Edible flavors.

"Bai Niu Er" has always been a big single product in the bottled wine category, and it is also the main source of income for Shunxin Agriculture.

However, after the implementation of the "new national standard", the product will not be called "baijiu".

In response to the arrival of the "new national standard", Shunxin added special products such as "Niulanshan No. 1" and "Golden Label Aged" to the "Zhen Niu" series last year, which further enriched the bottled wine product line.

Liquor industry analyst Cai Xuefei believes that the "new national standard" affirms the brewing process of high-end liquor and gives high added value to high standards, which will further accelerate the upgrading of the entire Chinese liquor product structure and promote the development of quality consumption in the entire Chinese liquor industry.

However, the prepared wine still has many advantages in terms of health and liqueur. Its main body is the base wine, and its role is irreplaceable.
