Due to the sinking of a tourist boat off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, the Japan Coast Guard has been conducting intensive searches over a wide area from the 29th to the 3rd day around Kunashir Island in the Northern Territories.

On the first day, no clue was found that could lead to the discovery of 12 unknown people, and on the 30th, we will continue our search by strengthening our posture.

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed in the accident where the tour boat "KAZU1" (19 tons) sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula, and the whereabouts of 12 people are still unknown.



Since the last month on the 28th of last month, no missing persons have been found for the past month, and no one has been found inside the tour boat that was withdrawn from the seabed. We are strengthening our posture and conducting intensive searches.

According to the 1st Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, on the 29th, a total of 12 ships and aircraft from the Japan Coast Guard and the Self-Defense Forces are conducting a search over a wide area from the area around the Shiretoko Peninsula to the area around Kunashir Island in the Northern Territories.



Of these, six Japan Coast Guard patrol vessels have been dispatched around Kunashiri Island, strengthening the system from a maximum of three vessels so far.



In addition, underwater and land searches by Japan Coast Guard divers and police were conducted on the southern coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula, but no clues leading to the discovery of the missing person were found at 3:00 pm. about it.



On the other hand, the Japan Coast Guard has begun full-scale investigation of the cause of the accident, such as on-site inspection of the hull lifted from the seabed on the 28th, and it was confirmed that staff members entered and exited the work ship carrying the hull on the 29th. I was able to do it.



In the future, we will continue to investigate on the suspicion of accidental fatalities in business, such as listening to the situation voluntarily from the president of the operating company.



The hull is scheduled to be landed at Abashiri Port on the 1st of next month, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is adjusting to open it to the family on the same day.
