In the accident where a tourist boat sank off the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido, the Japan Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the accident, while concentrating on the Self-Defense Forces and the police for three days from the 29th, within a range that has doubled from the past. I'm going to do a search.

The whereabouts of 12 people are still unknown

On the 23rd of last month, 14 passengers were killed in the accident where the tour boat "KAZU 1" sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula, and the whereabouts of 12 people are still unknown.

No clue was obtained after the missing person was found on the 28th of last month, and the Japan Coast Guard will strengthen its posture and conduct an intensive sea search for three days from the 29th to the 31st. I have decided.

We will dispatch four large patrol boats to the north side of the Shiretoko Peninsula, including the area around Kunashiri Island in the Northern Territories, in the search area, which has expanded to about twice the size of the past.

Also, in the area around the peninsula, we will cooperate with the police, the Self-Defense Forces, private sightseeing boats and fishing boats to search, so we would like to get clues as much as possible in these three days.

On the other hand, the Japan Coast Guard has begun full-scale investigation of the cause of the accident, such as on-site inspection of the hull lifted from the seabed on the 28th. I am suspicious and will proceed with the investigation.
