Isaiah Lee, the man who attacked Dave Chappelle while he was performing on the Hollywood Bowl stage on May 4, has finally explained his gesture.

To hear it, the 23-year-old man resented the comedian for his jokes towards the homeless and the transgender community.

“I identify as bisexual – and I wanted him to know what he was saying was provocative.

I wanted him to know that next time he should think twice before submitting his jokes to people who might be affected.

I am also the single father of a five year old child.

It's a fight and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it's not a joke," he said in an interview with the

New York Post

from the Los Angeles prison where he is waiting. to be judged.

From misdemeanor to attempted murder

If Isaiah Lee did nothing but tackle Dave Chappelle to the ground before being grabbed by security, he was in possession of a dummy pistol that contained a knife blade.

Prosecuted for minor offenses, the attacker could have got away with it.

But following the media coverage caused by the case, Isaiah Lee was recognized by a man who shared a room with him in a shelter and who accuses him of having stabbed him in December 2021.

As a result, he is now charged with attempted murder and potentially faces 15 years in prison.

“My son will be big when I go out,” he finally lamented during the interview.
