The kidnappers surprised the father of the Egyptian student by phone with him yesterday, Thursday, and demanded that he prepare a ransom amount of 5 million South African rand, equivalent to 6.5 million pounds, to release his son.

They confirmed that they could send a representative on their behalf to his home in Egypt to receive the money.


Haitham Kamel Jaber, the father of the kidnapped student, told Al Arabiya.net that he was really shocked by the gang's behavior, stressing that he feared for his son's life.

He also continued that he could not secure this huge amount, especially since he did not trust the gang's words about releasing his son after he paid the money.

The father explained that the person he negotiated with was an Arab and spoke with a Levantine accent.

And about the last call he had with his son, he stated that it was on Friday before last, at exactly six thirty in the evening, and two hours later, his mother tried to call him again, but he did not answer, and then the call was cut off.


It is noteworthy that the kidnapped young man, Moamen, had traveled on March 17 to the State of South Africa, to enroll in one of the aviation academies there.

When the academy was asked, the answer came that the young man went out with his friend and did not return.

After the disappearance of two days, the father received a phone call from an intermediary, informing him that his son had been kidnapped, and that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom from him.

He added that the mediator demanded that he not inform the police or the academy to prevent harm to his son, and threatened him if he did not carry out what is required of him.
