The Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis has announced the construction of a new cycle path between Vieux-Port and the Catalans, reports BFM Marseille.

This one, located on the boulevard Charles Livon, will be 1.06 km, in both directions.

On the Carénage-Pharo sector, the four lanes will be reduced to three.

Twenty parking spaces out of 47 will be removed on the route.

The track will be secured with an impassable separator.

Work will begin this summer for commissioning in early 2023.

The 2024 Olympics in sight

This new cycle path will go “from Corbières to Montredon, via Mourepiane, Cap Janet, Arenc, Joliette, Old Port, the beaches and Pointe-Rouge”, specifies Martine Vassal, president of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis.

"With this 1.06 km extension, we are continuing the dynamic that we have initiated with the Metropolis in terms of soft mobility in order to promote soft travel during the next Olympic Games in 2024", she continues.
