Recently, the staff of the Yunhe County Cultural Relics Protection Center in Lishui, Zhejiang Province discovered an ancient tomb with the Western Jin Dynasty, built in the second year of Jianxing (AD 314), more than 1,700 years ago.
After rescue excavations, 5 important cultural relics were unearthed in the tomb, among which the golden ring and the celadon tiger son are especially precious.
This excavation is an important discovery of the tombs of the Western Jin Dynasty in the southwestern Zhejiang, and it is of great value to the study of the economy, culture, and funeral customs of the southwestern Zhejiang in the Western Jin Dynasty.
It is understood that the ancient tomb of the Western Jin Dynasty was buried under one meter to two meters of thick soil. In order to ensure that damage to the tomb was reduced during the excavation process, the staff used small tools such as hand shovels, bamboo sticks, brushes, and hoes to operate.
After several consecutive days of rescue excavations, the outline of the ancient tomb of the Western Jin Dynasty has gradually become clear. It is a coupon-topped brick tomb. Although it has been damaged to varying degrees in the course of history, the tomb system is relatively regular.
There are many complete inscription bricks preserved in the tomb, and some inscription bricks are clearly engraved with important text information such as "the second year of Jianxing in August", which can be inferred to be ancient tombs of the Western Jin Dynasty, dating back more than 1,700 years.
According to the introduction of the archaeological staff, according to the overall regulation of the ancient tombs of the Western Jin Dynasty and the precious cultural relics excavated, it can be judged that the owner of the tomb had a certain social status at that time, and his status was relatively noble; to a certain extent, it reflected Yunhe and southwestern Zhejiang The social politics, economy, production, life, customs, religion and other aspects of the region during the Western Jin Dynasty have very important research significance.
