In a national examination to determine whether a judge of the Supreme Court is a suitable person, it was disputed whether it was unconstitutional that Japanese living abroad could not vote. The National Examination Law, which does not recognize it, has sentenced it to violate the Constitution.

This is the 11th case in which the Supreme Court has determined that the provisions of the law are unconstitutional.

In all past cases, legislation has been amended, forcing the country to respond.
