Since 2014, the complaint, filed by Judy Huth in civil against Bill Cosby for sexual assault, dragged on but will finally be judged.

Jury selection began yesterday in a Los Angeles court and opening arguments are scheduled to be held on June 1.

The creator of the

Cosby Show

is accused of having abused the complainant in 1975, at the Playboy Mansion, when she was 16 and he was 37.

As the

Guardian

recalls , the comedian had tried to have this complaint dismissed, the accuser having first certified that the facts had occurred in 1974. In vain, since justice gave the green light to judge this case.

Historical

The delay between the filing of the complaint and its judgment is due to the previous criminal trial which Bill Cosby had to face.

He was convicted in 2018 of drugging and then sexually abusing Andrea Constand in 2004. The actor, sentenced to 10 years in prison, was released in 2021 when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction .

More than 60 women have accused Bill Cosby of abusing her throughout his 50-year career.

The actor has always denied having had sex without consent.

He should not be called to testify during this trial, being "100% blind with glaucoma and because of the number of cases of Covid-19 on the rise" said his spokesman, Andrew Wyatt, with

People

.

This new trial is expected to last two weeks.
