It has been 77 years since the "Yamanote Air Raid", which caused great damage to central Tokyo due to the air raids of the US Army at the end of the Pacific War, and on the 25th in Minato Ward, Tokyo, a memorial gathering was held with the participation of local elementary school students.

The "Yamanote Air Raid" was the result of repeated air raids in central Tokyo from April to May 1945. Among them, the two-day air raids on May 24 and 25 were widespread, including the Imperial Palace, Akasaka, and Harajuku. The area was burnt and more than 4000 people were killed.

In the 77th year since this air raid, on the 25th, a memorial gathering was held in a corner of Omotesando where a memorial monument is located, with people who experienced the air raid and bereaved families, and the sixth graders of a local elementary school participated for the first time. First, flowers were offered.

Then, an effort was made to listen to the stories of the people who experienced it, and Michiko Nakamura (92), who was 15 years old at the time, said, "I feel sorry for the person who died in the air raid, but I died from my parents in the same age as everyone else. I felt sorry for my child. I've seen the remaining children gather at train stations and the like, and at the end they fell apart and died. Don't just go to war. "

The child who participated said, "I was surprised that a bomb had fallen into a peaceful local town and it became a burnt field. From now on, I want to create a town where everyone can live comfortably."
