Google allows researchers to conduct a study on digital well-being.

A team from the Center for Digital Mental Health at the University of Oregon in the United States is indeed using data by employing "passive and continuous sensing technology" on our smartphones and Fitbit watches using the Google application. Health Studies, reports Phonandroid.

For researchers, it is a question of understanding the way in which people use their mobile phone and how this use has an impact on their well-being.

The advantage of Google Health Studies is that the application collects precise data concerning the use of Android phones.

It is therefore a digital collection that is preferred to a study based on a questionnaire given to users concerning their habits.

A different approach thanks to digital data

With this method, the scientists hope to obtain a new approach concerning the digital well-being which could not be perceived with the other studies.

In focus, the impact of time spent in front of a phone screen on sleep.

Researchers also plan to assess harmful elements that can be controlled or mitigated by providing the same service.

The survey is on a voluntary basis.

Only US Android smartphone users can participate as long as they perform daily activities without assistance.
