Investigations into the accident of the crash of a microbus in the Ibrahimiya Canal in the Egyptian governorate of Minya, and the death and injury of some of its occupants, revealed that the accident occurred as a result of the driver’s negligence, carelessness and lack of caution.

The Public Prosecution had received a report from the police, on the evening of the twenty-first of this month, stating that a microbus had fallen in the Ibrahimiya Canal in the village of Al-Bargaia, on the Egypt-Aswan Agricultural Road in Minya Governorate, and the death and injury of some of its passengers.

The Monitoring and Analysis Unit in the Al-Bayan Department of the Public Prosecution Office monitored publications circulating about the accident on social media and various news sites, including rumors about the cause of its occurrence, stating: "The bus driver threatened the passengers by deliberately dropping it into the water, if they did not pay him an extra fare than what they paid." .

And the prosecution added: “The competent prosecution took over the investigations, as it moved to the hospital to discuss the bodies of the deceased, and question the injured, whose testimonies were repeated about the bus driver’s attempt to avoid an industrial bump, and he was surprised on the road if he was going too fast, which resulted in the imbalance of the steering wheel from his hand, and they fell into the water. Two of them confirmed that the rumors circulating about the bus driver threatening the passengers before the accident were not true.

The Public Prosecution also asked a witness to the accident, who confirmed its occurrence according to the picture concluded by the testimony of the injured, accusing the bus driver of causing it to drive at excessive speed.
