And he recalled historical moments of this newspaper such as the publication of the CESID papers, when on June 12, 1995 EL MUNDO revealed that what is today the CNI had been spying on and recording politicians, businessmen and journalists for more than 10 years.

Joaquín Manso (Candás-Asturias, 1977) was appointed director of EL MUNDO by the Editorial Board of Directors last week.

In a statement, it was announced that he will be the one in charge of leading the editorial project and maintaining the prestigious history of the newspaper.

Its main objective will be to guarantee the rigor and quality of information that make up the hallmarks of EL MUNDO, to face the great challenges of current journalism and digital transformation.
