Algerian actor and director Ahmed Benaissa passed away at the age of 78, while attending the Cannes Film Festival, where the movie "Gold Point", in which he participated last Friday, was shown.

During an artistic career that exceeded 50 years, the artist participated in 120 films, including internationally famous works such as "Papicha", "Blood of Wolves" and "The Outlaws".

The Algerian Minister of Culture and Arts, Soraya Mologi, mourned the loss of one of the “pillars” of Algerian culture, who passed away, leaving behind an “indelible imprint in the world of Algerian cinema and theater.”

The Algerian writer Kamel Daoud praised the artist with a "beautiful spirit and a great actor", describing the late as "a man who does not bear any hatred for anyone, and has a wonderful talent."

Daoud indicated on Twitter that Ahmed Benaissa, as a "main actor", participated in "the filming of the film (Morseau Counter-Investigation) adapted from his novel of the same title."

Bin Issa was born in 1944, and during his long career, he was in contact with great playwrights, such as Kateb Yassin, Izz El-Din Majoubi, Mohamed Boudia, and Mohamed Ibn Kataf.
