“

After 13 years of pride in representing my country, I am announcing that I am ending my international career.

I would like to thank the Gabonese people and all those who have supported me in good and bad times

", writes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a letter addressed to Fégafoot, who salutes "

the immense career and the regularity at the high level of the one who knew how to sell, thanks to his professionalism, the image of Gabon in the world

 ".

I thank my father who made me want to do like him

“

I will keep many good memories, like the day I made my debut at Omnisports, or the day I came back from Nigeria with the African Ballon d'Or.

And sharing it with everyone was an unforgettable moment.

I thank our president, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba who has always supported the Panthers and has always worked to ensure that football evolves in our country.

I would also like to thank all my coaches, staff and players that I met during this race.

Finally, I thank my father who made me want to do like him, hoping to have made him proud by wearing our colors

 , ”says the 32-year-old former Saint-Étienne player.

In 73 games, Aubameyang will have scored 30 goals to become the top scorer in the history of his selection.

Aubameyang reached the quarter-finals of the CAN in 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

He never managed to qualify his country for the final phase of the World Cup.

Last January, he did not play a single match at the CAN in Cameroon after testing positive for Covid-19.

Barça recruited the Gabonese in early February 2022, left free by Arsenal where he was in disgrace, the English club having agreed to terminate his contract "by mutual consent" to save his fabulous salary, then estimated at 15 million pounds per year ( EUR 18 million).

The striker has scored 13 goals in three months for the Catalan club since his arrival.
