A police officer in his 40s at the Metropolitan Police Department was arrested last month on suspicion of violating the Tokyo Metropolitan Anti-nuisance Ordinance for touching the lower body of a woman near the ticket gate of JR Akihabara Station.

The police officer was subsequently released and the Metropolitan Police Department is voluntarily conducting an investigation, saying she said, "She drank too much and did it."

The person arrested was the sergeant in his 40s at the Higashiyamato Police Department of the Metropolitan Police Department.

According to investigators, it is suspected that the city's nuisance prevention regulations have been violated for touching the lower body of a woman in her twenties who was walking in front of the ticket gate of JR Akihabara Station on the night of the 13th of last month.

She said the woman asked a nearby station employee for help and was arrested on the spot.

The sergeant admitted to the investigation that he had "drinked too much" because he had been drinking with a colleague after finishing his work at the time.

The sergeant was subsequently released and the Metropolitan Police Department is voluntarily conducting an investigation.

Last month, the Metropolitan Police Department was arrested for voyeurism and possession of stimulants in the station, making this the fourth person.

The Metropolitan Police Department commented, "It is a serious act as a police officer, and we will strive to prevent recurrence."
