Ross queued at a Moscow train station yesterday for what might be the last Big Mac from one of the few McDonald's restaurants still open in the country.

After more than 30 years of existence, the world's largest burger chain began closing its doors in Russia, becoming one of the biggest international brands to leave the country after invading Ukraine.

"The company works in a few places now," said Irina, 32, who was standing in line at a McDonald's branch in Moscow's Leningradsky station, where trains head north to St Petersburg. Petersburg, I will buy a Big Mac.

McDonald's plans to sell 84% of its 850 restaurants in Russia to a local buyer.

New owners will not be allowed to use the name, logo, brand and menu.

This has left some Russians concerned about quality being affected.

Ala, 21, said, "I read yesterday that (McDonald's) will be closing soon and opening under a new name, so I rushed here today to buy my favorite cheeseburger and chips... What if the quality gets worse after changing the brand?"
