On May 16, local time, the U.S. investigation department announced the discovery of a large underground drug trafficking tunnel connecting factory warehouses in the United States and Mexico, the length of which is equivalent to 6 football fields put together.

The U.S. investigation department said the secret underground passage contained railroads, ventilation systems, electrical facilities and reinforced walls, connecting the Mexican border city of Tijuana to San Diego, California.

Over the past 20 years, more than 10 complex underground passages have been discovered in the nearby area.

U.S. authorities don't yet know how old the channel has been in operation and how much traffic it has had in the past.

Recently, the US investigation department seized a large amount of cocaine, virus and heroin here, and six California residents were arrested for suspected drug trafficking.
