The rapid and mysterious drying up of the Parc Debreuil pond in Melun (Seine-et-Marne) surprised many.
About fifteen volunteers and members of the Anguilles Melunaises association got involved.
They recently carried out an unprecedented rescue operation to rescue the fish, reports
La République de Seine-et-Marne
.
Equipped with landing nets and waterproof equipment, the volunteers progressed through the shallow water to retrieve the fish.
In total, two carp weighing more than 5 kg and a few dozen roaches were caught.
Since this unprecedented operation, the water level has returned to normal, partly following recent stormy rains.
Daily monitoring
The volunteers set up a daily watch.
They wonder what caused such a sudden phenomenon.
For them, the high temperatures are not the only culprits.
The damming or diversion of a source following works could also explain the situation.
