reports .

46% of respondents (aged 50 and over) expressed their fear of losing their autonomy in daily life.

18% fear an impairment of their cognitive abilities and 12% fear not being able to make ends meet.

This is how they envisage, under certain conditions, having to leave their homes.

But few respondents anticipate the future.

They are 55% to save money while 40% adapt their housing for their future life.

38% of over 75s ready to leave home

The concern about the future is tenacious when the people interviewed assess their living conditions in old age (75-80 years for the study).

Some people believe that they “will be worse than their parents'.

Especially since the lengthening of life can also increase the risk of contracting diseases”.

Thus, 38% of people over 75 want to leave their home to be accommodated in a residence for the elderly.

But they do not intend to deprive themselves of services.

Thus, 51% want easy access to a doctor or hospital, 37% want to be close to their loved ones and 28% want housing that is more suitable for aging.

Respondents readily cite accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) at 91%, ahead of senior assisted living facilities (85%), family accommodation (75%) and shared accommodation between seniors (75%).

Even if there is a certain distrust vis-à-vis the Ehpad, the respondents consider an ideal residence.

This must be located in the city center (59%), offer a two-room apartment (59%) with a monthly cost of less than 1,500 euros (66%).

The price is the second criterion of choice (62%), behind the presence of a nice and benevolent staff (64%).
