Wheat crisis: "Speculators consider it's time to buy"

The price of wheat, at its highest since the war in Ukraine, broke a new record on the European market after India announced an embargo on its grain exports.

Interview with Nicolas Bricas, food socio-economist at the Agricultural Research Center for Development (CIRAD).

A decision that will “ 

aggravate the crisis

 ” in grain supply, the G7 is alarmed.

Rising prices and shortages thus pose a risk of famine and social unrest, particularly in the poorest countries which massively import their grain needs.
