[Explanation] Nanxishan Hospital in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was formerly known as Nanxishan Hospital in Guilin. More than half a century ago, it was a rear international hospital dedicated to treating the wounded and sick in Vietnam on the front lines of the Vietnam Anti-American War.

In October 1967, Vietnam established the Field Hospital E Hospital, which is mainly responsible for treating the wounded and sick in the southern battlefield, and shoulders the responsibility of transferring the seriously wounded and sick to China.

Therefore, as the Nanxishan Hospital responsible for the rescue and treatment of Vietnam at that time, it has witnessed the sincere friendship between the people of China and Vietnam.

  [Explanation] Today, the Nanxishan Hospital still retains the large auditorium built in that year, the reception room next to it, the Wangjiang Pavilion, and the original historical appearance of the 2-story building where the Vietnamese team was stationed in the hospital.

In the hospital history exhibition hall, the exhibition hall combines a large number of pictures and real objects to display the history of the hospital as an aid hospital from 1967 to 1975.

This special period of more than half a century ago is vividly remembered.

  [Explanation] On March 26, 1969, Guilin Nanxishan Hospital was completed and received the first batch of 47 Vietnamese wounded and sick.

  [Commentary] Yang Hongbing, a former nurse at Nanxishan Hospital in Guilin, is an orthopedic nurse. Most of the patients she is in charge of are disabled by bombs.

After 54 years, Yang Hongbing still remembers the patient's name.

  At that time, we received a patient, his name was Huang Mei, because he suffered a fractured lumbar vertebrae and then paralyzed his lower limbs after coming off the battlefield. I gave him acupuncture and moxibustion on time every day. Gradually, the patient's consciousness improved and gradually recovered. When he was discharged from the hospital, he had already stood up.

  [Explanation] During the 8-year aid mission to Vietnam, Guilin Nanxishan Hospital treated 5,432 Vietnamese wounded and sick, performed 2,576 operations, and transfused 779,220 ml of blood.

In 1974, Guilin Nanxishan Hospital was awarded the First Class War of Resistance Medal awarded by the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

  More than 600 employees in our hospital are also a "living blood bank" for the wounded and sick in Vietnam. Whenever the blood source is insufficient and need to be rescued with blood, as long as the hospital horn sounds, the staff who match the blood type will immediately rush to the blood bank. , Roll up your sleeves to donate blood to patients.

  [Explanation] Nanxishan Hospital should not only pay attention to the physical treatment of the wounded and sick, but also pay attention to the spiritual and cultural life of the wounded and sick.

In 1971, Nanxishan Hospital decided to build a large auditorium on its own. After completion, the auditorium was divided into upper and lower floors with a total of 1420 seats.

Some of the seats are also equipped with simultaneous interpretation systems at that time, and these facilities have now become a fond memory shared by many people.

  [Explanation] In 1968, 29-year-old Jia Taichang was transferred from Beijing to the internal medicine department of Guilin Nanxishan Hospital to engage in clinical work, and later served as the president of Nanxishan Hospital in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

And in 1997, he visited Vietnam E Hospital.

  In 1997, when a domestic health delegation visited Hanoi, I also saw that the tables, chairs, benches, and medical equipment that we were in the hospital at that time were all being used in E Hospital in Hanoi, and I felt very cordial.

  [Explanation] Beginning in 1976, Guilin Nanxishan Hospital was renamed Nanxishan Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and became a public hospital open to the public.

More than 50 years later, Nanxishan Hospital still continues the tradition of "living blood bank".

  At that time, the seniors of our Nanxishan Hospital gave full play to the spirit of selfless dedication and treated a large number of Vietnamese wounded and sick.

Our current medical staff also follow the glorious tradition of the older generation. Once clinical ischemia occurs, we will voluntarily stretch out our arms and dedicate our love to our society.
