• Tales From The Wild is a universe born as a game on Discord

  • The community that brings it to life co-writes the plot by playing and discussing the fiction that is woven before their eyes.

  • NFTs sold soon will give current users the opportunity to take their gaming experience further.

For millennia, the Welders have fought to preserve peace between Humanity and the Spirits of the Savage World.

Pollution, deforestation, mining… By dint of suffering the blows caused by human activities, nature is waking up and wants to take its revenge.

War is declared and the universe of Tales From the Wild is settled.

“It's a story that raises a question.

If tomorrow nature was able to coordinate itself, to have a conscience and a memory, what would happen?, summarizes François Delporte, CEO of Doors, the company behind Tales From the Wild.

On the Discord where this new kind of fiction was born, the members do not create a book, a series or a video game: they invent everything at the same time.

of co-creation

At the wand, we find the Doors team, of which 20 Minutes has published several soap operas.

Their know-how: imagining stories that raise sociological or environmental issues.

Founded in 2019, Doors has brought soap operas up to date, by offering 100% original series built in the form of five-minute episodes to read on your smartphone.

“The idea was to make reading as cool as Netflix”, explains its creator.

A successful bet.

In just three years, François Delporte and his team of thirty authors have managed to reach more than 200,000 users.

Enough to encourage this 30-year-old, with a flawless entrepreneurial career, to embark on a new (very) ambitious project with his team.

The creation of a fantasy universe, co-constructed with a community of Internet users which will eventually be available in video games, in books, then in series.

"We have the ambition to create the next Harry Potter", confides with passion, the one who was rocked by the saga of the wizard with round glasses.

“Harry Potter is not just a matter of luck.

It worked well because JK Rowling is talented, but also because the global cultural momentum was ready to welcome this universe, he analyzes.

With Tales From the Wild, we reversed the paradigm.

Instead of imagining a world for a community, we create a world through a community”.

Votes to imagine the rest

To achieve this goal, players are immersed in the universe of Tales From the Wild via a Discord – an instant chat service.

Everyone embodies a Welder and chooses one of five spirits (water, earth, wind, fire or forest) that they train daily.

In parallel, participants have access to a discussion channel where they can contribute, via a vote, to the writing of key moments in the history of Tales From the Wild.

For the moment open to all players, the chat channel will soon be only accessible to holders of non-fungible tokens (NFT).

These 2,222 titles of ownership of digital objects, will take the form of 3D animated characters and will be sold in the coming weeks on the occasion of a “drop” – a limited edition public sale.

While waiting for the audiovisual adaptation

“They will be useful in the game, because they will accompany the players in their adventure and they will also allow them to participate in the writing of history.

It's sort of a beta-reader badge.

A way to reward the time spent by users of Tales From the Wild on Discord, but also to make them loyal to this large-scale project.

“Being a beta reader takes some effort.

But the NFTs allow the community to feel officially part of the adventure”.

For now, this adventure has only just begun.

Today with 4,000 members, the Tales From the Wild community is particularly active.

While waiting for the arrival of NFT on the market, hundreds of players have contributed to the writing of the first book, which is due to appear next June.

But before considering a possible audiovisual adaptation in the form of a series, François Delporte, who can count on Serge Hayat, French film producer, hopes to reach 100,000 players by November.

Once again, the boss of Doors and his team are in their element and manage to keep us going until the next episode.
