At 5:40 on the morning of the 10th, in Lenghu Road Community, Hutai Street, Chengxi District, Xining City, Qinghai Province, Yuan Dalin, a 40-year-old retired soldier, walked out of the house after washing up.

"Since 1 a.m. this morning, Xining City has adopted strict and strict epidemic prevention and control measures. Our Chengxi District requires all staff to do nucleic acid testing, and we must prepare as soon as possible." Yuan Dalin said.

When we arrived at the nucleic acid testing site, the community staff had already delivered the required materials, and 8 volunteers like Yuan Dalin were also in place one after another.

"There are very few young people in our community. These 6 volunteers are all over 60 years old. That guy is my cousin Yuan Rui. We usually 'stand guard' at the community checkpoint and come for nucleic acid testing when we are doing nucleic acid testing. point." Yuan Dalin introduced.

Yuan Dalin, a veteran who retired in 2010, volunteered to participate in the frontline of the fight against the epidemic in October 2021.

Since April this year, a new round of new coronary pneumonia has occurred in Xining City, Qinghai Province. Yuan Dalin immediately called Yuan Rui, his cousin who was unemployed at home after retiring in December 2021, and mobilized him to join the anti-epidemic volunteer service.

If there is a battle, it will be recalled, and the battle will be won.

Because they have more military experience than their peers, they have more responsibility and responsibility as a soldier. When receiving a mobilization call from his cousin, 29-year-old Yuan Rui did not hesitate.

"We are both ex-servicemen and party members. We will join if we need it. Compared with the elderly, we are 'chosen volunteers'. Our work involves material transportation, classification and distribution, venue setting, nucleic acid order maintenance, etc." Yuan Rui said that today he mainly maintains order at the testing site and provides some help for the elderly and the disabled. His brother has to go to the "shouting building" first, and then go to the nucleic acid testing site to maintain order.

At 7:30, residents came to the nucleic acid testing site one after another, and volunteers, medical workers, and community workers immediately went to work.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, seeing the heavy workload and tight manpower in the community, the brothers took the initiative to ask Ying to join the anti-epidemic volunteer service.

Coordinating epidemic prevention materials, maintaining on-site order, and disinfecting public areas... The brothers are there wherever they are needed.

In many cases, they have to wear protective clothing for more than ten consecutive hours, during which they cannot drink a sip of water or go to the bathroom.

"Compared with community workers, we are much better. Most of them work 24 hours a day. We can at least go home, but even if they are close to home, they have no time to go back. They can only eat when they are busy with work. It's already cold, it's really distressing to look at." Yuan Dalin said that volunteer service positions are also "battle positions", they cannot be "absent", as long as the community residents need them, they must use practical actions to practice the true colors of soldiers, stand Good for every shift.

Organizing residents to go downstairs to do nucleic acid testing, maintain a safe distance, and line up in an orderly manner, the seemingly simple process is not easy to implement. During this time, the brothers often had a hoarse throat due to maintaining order, and their skin was red and swollen due to prolonged sweating.

"In the army, we have been trained and educated by the party. When we return to the place, in special times, we should stand up, rush to the more dangerous front line, and do something to the best of our ability." Yuan Rui said. At the moment of "Dabai", standing on the real front line of epidemic prevention, the sense of mission of the soldiers came back.

With the development of various tasks, hundreds of volunteers from Chengxi District joined the anti-epidemic team, including many retired soldiers.

"At present, 113 retired soldiers have joined the volunteer service team, and nearly 100 retired soldiers have joined the front line of the fight against the epidemic. Every day, our center and various community streets are still receiving many volunteer applications from veterans." Retired soldiers in Chengxi District, Xining City Lu Bin, director of the service center, said.
