Marilyn Monroe painting sells for $195 million at auction

Christie's famous Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe painting was auctioned in New York on Monday by Swiss art dealer Thomas and Doris Amann for $195 million at auction, setting new records for 20th-century art by the American artist.

It is reported that the pre-sale price of the painting was estimated at 200 million dollars, but it sold at 170 million dollars, and its final price was 195 million dollars after added fees.

It is one of a series of portraits that Warhol drew for the actress after her death in 1962, and has since become one of the most famous pieces of pop art, according to the British website, The Guardian.
