Research groups such as Hokkaido University have announced that fossil dinosaurs, which were discovered in Hokkaido more than 20 years ago, have been found to be a new species based on the characteristics of the bones of the fingertips.

Research groups such as Professor Yoshitsugu Kobayashi of the Hokkaido University Museum announced the new species of dinosaurs.

The research group was conducting a detailed analysis of dinosaur fossils found by local fossil lovers in Nakagawa Town, northern Hokkaido, 22 years ago in 2000.

As a result, it was recognized as a new species of Therizinosauria that lived on the coast in the late Cretaceous about 83 million years ago due to the characteristics of the bone shape of the fingertips.

The research group named this new species "Paraliteridinosaurus japonics" in Greek, meaning Therizinosaurus living on the coast of Japan.

Professor Kobayashi says, "I'm glad to have a new name for dinosaurs in Japan. There is a possibility that more dinosaurs will be found in Japan in the future, and we can expect deeper research on dinosaurs."
