[Explanation] In 1995, Guangxi Normal University established a cooperative relationship with Ho Chi Minh City Normal University, Vietnam, and exchanged teachers and students to teach and study.

Wu Huijun, a Vietnamese teacher at Guangxi Normal University, was one of the first Vietnamese students to study in Guangxi. Now she is still deeply impressed by the way of studying abroad.

[Commentary] When Wu Huijun first came to China, he felt that the trip between China and Vietnam was very far away, and it was very inconvenient to travel to Guilin from Vietnam's hometown of Binh Duong to study.

Every time she returns to her home in Vietnam or re-enters her country for a visa, Wu Huijun has to run a "cross-border marathon" every six months, then take a bus to Ho Chi Minh City Airport, take a plane to Hanoi to stay overnight, and then take a bus to pass the Friendship Pass the next day. Arrive in Nanning for one night, and continue to take the train to reach Guilin on the third day.

Since 2000, China's traffic has changed a lot. It is much more convenient for us to return to Vietnam from Guilin, and we can go home on the same day.

[Explanation] In 1997, Wu Huijun and Luo Mingdi, a teacher at the School of Literature of Guangxi Normal University, became a Sino-Vietnamese husband and wife, and later had a lovely daughter.

Whenever there are festivals and her daughter's birthday, Wu Huijun will put Vietnamese traditional cold dishes, spring rolls, sugar water and other foods on the table.

So far, Wu Huijun also often cooks Chinese food and Vietnamese snacks at home to share with her family.

I remember that we started to eat Guilin rice noodles on the first day we came here. It was delicious and cheap. Now it can be said that it is the aftertaste of many Vietnamese students. They like this Guilin rice noodles very much.

[Commentary] The story of Wu Huijun coming to China to study and settle in Guilin is a microcosm of the transnational teacher-student relationship between Guangxi Normal University and Vietnamese students.

Our Yucai campus is one of the campuses with the longest running time, the largest number of students, the longest time and the deepest impression on them.

More than 70 to 80 percent of the trees on this campus are planted by their own hands.

At that time, many students in Vietnamese schools also paired up with our students in Guilin, and the students on both sides (China and Vietnam) had a deep relationship.

[Explanation] After entering the 1990s, generations of Vietnamese youths followed the footsteps of their parents to study at Guangxi Normal University.
