Total misunderstanding for this young firefighter from Sdis 38. Going from the barracks of Pont-de-Chéruy to that of Crémieu (Isère) in June 2021, Loïc Lonchambon was ordered to shave his beard.

Reason given: the tightness linked to the protective mask.

But this had never been reproached to him before, reports

Le Dauphiné Libéré

.

Reminders… then a reprimand

The firefighter was the subject of several oral and written reminders.

Faced with his categorical refusal, he was first banned from service for three weeks and excluded from the activities of the barracks.

On April 1, he then received a reprimand.

Judging this decision to be discriminatory, he alerted elected officials, the National Federation of Firefighters, the prefect and the Minister of the Interior.

He also created a Facebook page to relay his story.

They would be four in the same case within the Sdis 38 and all have been called to order.

For its part, the law stipulates that "shaving is imperative for taking up duty and that the beard must be well trimmed to allow optimal effectiveness of protective masks".
